Quick Start Guide
Info about the game
Deviantwar is a turn-based (one turn is 15minutes) MMORPG that can be played in your favorite browser. You are lord of your planet, battling other lords and your goal is to make your civilization as successful as possible, both economically and military. The game is fun and easy to learn. You can choose any of 7 countries and every country has its own unique bonus. Bonuses are described in the registration form.
Start
First you must create your account. To do that click Register on the first page. Once you've finished creating your account, you will receive an email with a random password that is used for your first login. After you login the first time, you can change your password to anything you wish. From now on that password is the one you will use to login. Note that you can still change your email or your password later in the game and we advise you to do it for maximum security. For that same reason, do not tell anyone your password. Congratulation, the registration is now complete and you've became Lord of your realm.
Nation
Here you can look up information about your nation. You can see how many units of which type you have, how much money you have, how many turns, different areas, happiness, resources, etc. You can also check your military effectiveness, turn income and population growth.
Here you also have your Referral link that you can give to your friends and get extra Untrained Units. In Profile Settings you can set vacation mode or change your password.
Train
In the train page, you can see all the units you have and you can train new units or untrain those you have previously trained to reassign them. You can train units in attack, defence, covert or assassination experts for military purposes or into workers to improve economy. Additionally you can put your slaves in the mines to increase your money production.
Have in mind that you can only achieve 100% happiness if you use formulas below:
Industrial Workers = Commercial Workers + Mine Workers
Also Mine Workers should be only 20% compared to Commercial Workers + Mine Workers. So if you have 20 people to train, train 10 as industrial workers, 2 as mine workers and 8 as commercial workers.
One commercial worker will bring you 100 money / turn, industrial worker 50% less and mine worker 20% more. Happiness affects your money gain too. If at 100% then you will gain all amount of money. If 50% then you will only gain 50% of money.
Upgrade
In the Upgrade panel, you can increase your population growth or build new Residential areas. Population growth defines how many units you get per day and Residential areas are the maximum of total units you can have, not counting the slaves. In this same panel, you can also upgrade the maximum number of mine, commercial or industrial workers you can have. And on the right side, you can upgrade your soldiers into better ones, which are more powerful, but cost more money.
Armory
What is a soldier without his weapon? In the armory, you can purchase weapons and repair them. Weapons are given to people automatically. But different class of army men can wield different weapon.
Soldier - only first two weapons
Corporal - only first four weapons
Sergeant - all, but last weapon
Major - all weapons
Bank
You can use the bank for depositing and withdrawing your money or to invest money or write checks to other players. Money in the bank is safe from other people and cannot be stolen.
Attack
In menu click attack button to view the list of players. There you can select a player to attack. You will be given their information and you'll have to choose which type of attack you want to perform. You can attack them for money, slaves or untrained units. For these attacks to be successful, your attack power must be greater than his defence. Other options are spying or sabotaging his weapons with covert agents and assassinating his units. You also have the option to send messages to the selected player in the attack tab.
Explanation of Attack Missions:
Get Treasure - if successful you will gain percentage of unbanked defender money. More turns = bigger %.
Capture Untrained - you will capture enemy untrained units and they will join your nation as slaves. They do not need place to sleep so they will not be added to your total population. You can train slaves to work in mine, one mine slave brings you 50% more money per turn then commercial worker.
Free Slaves - If attacked user have slaves or mine slaves you can free them. They will join your nation as Untrained Units and therefor they need place to stay. Make sure you have enough residential areas to give shelter to refugees.
Explanation of Spy Missions:
Spy - your spies will try to gather information from enemy (need 1 turn)
Sabotage Attack - your spies will try to sabotage enemy attacking weapons (need 10 turns)
Sabotage Defense - your spies will try to sabotage enemy defensive weapons (need 10 turns)
Explanation of Assassination Missions:
Assassinate Covert - your spies will try to kill enemy spies and assassins (need 10 turns)
Assassinate Military - your assassins will try to kill enemy soldiers (need 10 turns)
Battle log
When you are done attacking, look into your battle log. In the battle log, you can see all the recent battles. Attacks made by you and attacks by others on you. At the bottom, you can see a list of covert missions.
Technology
In the technology lab, you can upgrade your military effectiveness. Each upgrade needs special resources and some money to be made.
Resource market
Each planet produces two out of five resources needed for technology improvements. On the market, you can buy other people's resources or sell your own resources for money. Knowing the market well can be very profitable.
Messages
To be well informed and in contact with other players, use this feature. You can read received messages or send out new ones.
Alliances
If you think you need extra allies, join an alliance. In this feature you can check other alliances, create your own alliance or look up the alliance you are currently in. In every alliance panel, there is info about leader of alliance, sub-leader and the officers. Also the alliance's power and statistics of average alliance power. You can also check member list in there. If you are the leader of an alliance, you can edit alliance info or re-arrange players positions.
Members can use Alliance Chat to communicate with other members. Important feature is also Alliance Bank, where members donate money and leader or sub-leader can divide it to others. Bank also has small Interest Rate (0.4%) which is added two times per day.
The Alliance page supports bb codes:

bold/italic/underlined = , ,

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How to start?
Try to improve your Unit Production (Upgrade screen) and your money gained per turn by training units (commercial workers, mine workers and mine slaves bring you money). Be aware that you will need industrial workers too or your nation will be unhappy. Ideal conditions are:
Industrial Workers = Commercial Workers + Mine Workers
Remember...try to have less then 20% of Mine Workers (compared to Mine+Commercial Workers), by exceeding this your happiness will also slowly drop, althrough they give you 20% more money then Commercial Workers. So its up to you to find out ideal solution to this problem!
2. Slaves? Where can I train them?
You cannot train slaves. You can capture them by attacking player who has Untrained Units and by choosing "Capture Untrained" as option. If successful your nation will gain slaves. They do not need Houses to sleep in. You can train them to work as Mine Slaves (and they do not affect your nation happiness).
They are good workers so they will bring good amount of money to your nation.
3. Can I have more then one (1) account?
No!
4. Can I occasionaly control my friend's account?
No, each player must only control own account.
5. Can someone play from the same computer as I do? Can my brother play?
Yes, but you must not sell any resources to each other or send bank cheques! It's also a good idea to notify the gamemasters about it.
6. Why am I losing gold and soldiers?
You are probably being attacked. Check your attack log to see who attacked you, how many soldiers they killed and how much gold they stole from you.
7. How much does this cost to play?
Nothing. It's free. Enjoy!
8. It's hard to get people to click my link. Is there another way to gain untrained units?
The easiest way to gain untrained units is to persuade your friends to click link, but you can also upgrade your Unit Production (on the Upgrade page).
9. Why don't I ever kill any enemy soldiers?
The bigger your army, the more casualties you are likely to suffer. Armies small enough will usually not suffer casualties.
10. I'm not getting any new untrained units! What is wrong?
You should check Maximum -> All people in Train page. If it's same as your total population, you won't get any new units until you upgrade Residential Area.
11. I have only two(2) types of Resources. How am I supposed to get other three(3)?
You should use Resource Market and buy resources you need from other players.
12. I am ranked X. at all ranks but my total rank is not X. Why?
Your total rank is based on your total power. So theoreticaly, you can be rank 1 with just one stat (but that is not very smart move).
13. Why am I losing money and soldiers?
You are probably being attacked. Check your Battle Log to see who attacked you, how many soldiers they killed and how much money they stole from you.
14. Why do I need special resources? Are they good?
You will need them to upgrade your Technology, which gives you small bonus. Upgrading it in early stage of game is maybe not good idea, because you could spend that money for other upgrades.
15. I did not receive confirmation email for forum. What now?
Send message to Matthieu and he will approve you manually.
16. Hmm what is the P char near user in Attack page?
P char stand for Protected, so you cannot attack that users. They are new players so we should give them time to get to know game. When user register he or she is Protected for 1 hour and he or she cannot be attack OR attack others during that time.
17. Some guy in Attack Page has ??? ??? where army and money should be!
Yes. If he has 5 times or more bigger Spy Action then you, then those values are unknown.
18. I want to spy/assassinate some player. How do I know if I would be successful?
If you spy only defenders spies can stop you. But if you send assassins then enemy defending soldiers would help enemy assassins to stop your guys!
19. My battle/spy reports are gone. Why?
Reports older then 3 days are deleted. Also keep in mind that messages older then 7 days are deleted too (if they are not Saved).
20. I have been hacked...what now?
You should send email to admin. He will look into it.
21. How to prevent hackers to gain access to your account??
You should never use passwords, that can easely be guessed. It should be unique, and different than on forum. You should also change it from time to time. And you should not share your pass with anyone.
22. Can i sell my game money for real money??
No, to prevent scamming and also to protect our donators, selling game money is not allowed.
